Diagnostic and prognostic markers of HPV-driven disease
in anogenital (pre)cancerous lesions
Around 90% of cancers in the anal canal are caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). Patients with HPV-related anal cancer have a significantly better prognosis than patients with HPV-unrelated anal cancer.
This study aims to identify potential markers that may help to diagnose whether anal cancer is caused by HPV or not and to provide a better prognostic assessment.
