Frieda Specht
I joined the ATB for my bachelor’s thesis as part of the bachelor’s program B.Sc. Molecular Biotechnology, which I finished in summer 2026. In my thesis, I examined clonal dynamics and somatic second hit mechanisms of Mismatch Repair-Deficient Crypt Foci emergence in the normal mucosa of Lynch syndrome carriers.
After completing my thesis, I remained at the ATB as a research assistant and am currently supporting a machine learning project by annotating microscopic images.
Furthermore I started studying medicine in October 2026. Whether I will end up working as a doctor in a hospital or pursuing a career in research remains to be seen. In any case, I want to help people in their fight against cancer.
