Diagnostic and prognostic markers of HPV-driven disease

 

in anogenital (pre)cancerous lesions

Around 90% of cancers in the anal canal are caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). Patients with HPV-related anal cancer have a significantly better prognosis than patients with HPV-unrelated anal cancer.

This study aims to identify potential markers that may help to diagnose whether anal cancer is caused by HPV or not and to provide a better prognostic assessment.
